it been a while coming  but Richard and DRS have produced a little gem.

News 8th december 2008

We have put together a new live album from a gig we did in 2006 in Darmstadt Germany. It is available from our website, the album is called 'Oetinger Villa' and is a recording of the entire concert with a running time of well over 85 minutes.

The film which we recently supplied the music for, is having its premier screening in Berlin Germany this month!! We think its a great, semi abstract road movie, that is both trippedout and thought provoking (of course we would say that, having done the music for it:))))))) In our humble opinion, its a must see slice of film and music collaboration.

'Interstate 5' is a film by Michael Maier,

with the soundtrack by Amp.

The film is being screened at the Gallery Tristesse deluxe, Berlin, Germany from the 19th december to 31st January 2009 With the Opening on Friday 19th December at 7pm. the gallery is open mon-fri 10am-6pm.

If any of you are in the Berlin area, pop along to view the film if you can:)

News To November 2008

Well its been over a year since we updated the site properly, and to be honest we have been having a little break, re charging batteries and the like.....indeed we are still in a re-evaluation mood, taking stock of the road travelled so far...

The last gig, at Corsica Studios, London (24/06/07) was great fun, and it was even more special because we had drum chimp from 'Part Chimp' drumming for us, he, in our humble opinion, is one of the best drummers out there, so many many thanks to him, he really gelled with the great DRS and together they really sent Amp into supersonics:)))))))

The gig was also fun because we had our good friends, 'The Summer Sang' supporting us, so a big UP and thanks to them, they played a great set, it all helped to make the night an memorably enjoyable one.We also had a fun radio session for the GlassShrimp show on Resonance FM in London, a few days before the Corsica Studios gig. It was a live session in the studio. We have made it available in our downloads section on the ampbase site.

Many thanks to Kev Head and Tony Fisher of GlassShrimp, its a great radio show.

More recently we have been working on  some music for an experimental film/ road movie, about  interstate 5 in California, called  Interstate 5. The filmmakers approached us asking if they could us some music from our 'Transmissions" album and from AMP Studio's ‘Unconscious Country’,  we like what they filmed and said yes, there a new piece of music made especially for the film, which we have made available, as an mp3 download.

Go to our myspace page, We have posted a clip of the interstate 5 movie on youtube, also posted a bunch of clips of Amp playing live.

goto youtube and do a search for amptheband.

Meanwhile we have released a compilation, re issue of  'Heart and Soul' combined with 'Reminiscence', which appeared as a split cd with Windy and Carl, back in 1998.  We are calling this 'Soul Remains', and it is available via our shop site as a CDR and on itunes.

And we have a new Album out, of unreleased material from 2000-2007, its an 'icing on the cake' follow up to last year's 'All Of Yesterday Tomorrow' its a CDR release at present, and it is, also available via itunes.

The Album is called "Motus"

We finished and made this available awhile ago now but by accident and design we kept quiet about it.

Motus is a french word that means  “don't breath a word!" i.e shush! :))

August 8th 2006

A great deal has happened to us in the

last few months, it has been mainly marked by the sad sad loss of our dearest friend and Amp mascot  TICKY the cat

(the 'Le Petit Chat' in our song of the same name) she died while we were on our

recent European tour, and  honestly we are

only now coming to terms with our sadness and we still miss her very much.

Ticky was a real star of a cat and a great inspiration for Amp...

Many thanks to everyone involved with

the tour, and all who turned up to the shows, we had truly great audiences,

and we thank you all!!!

We are playing again on the 23rd September as part of the CROMA festival in the Canary a striped down 3 piece

of Richard, and Karine with Kevin Bass on drums...

(Kevin has been in Moonshake and Snow Pony)

Amp  'Opening'  from "US"

Very Friendly Records

Richard Walker is back with a new work of experimental landscapes mixed

with some angry hypnotic  'punk-jazz' guitar filtered sound.

His companion, Karine Charff, bring some beautiful, dark and

dreamy atmosphere in most of the songs on this new album

ambiguously titled "US".

This is a highly recommended record!

25th July 2004

We have had to cancel the gig at the

Spitz, London for the 26th July........

as we found out that running order for

the night had been changed to our

detriment, if we had gone ahead with

playing we would not have got a proper

sound check and only been able to play

for 20mins or so.....we would have gone on stage 40mins earlier than what was planned and advertised in the press.....

so many people, may have turned up,

to find out that they had just missed

our set!

We thought this state of affairs was not

good enough, so reluctantly we have

decided to pull out.

new mp3 to download

of a track that will appear on the

forthcoming album:

'Think Don't Think'

featuring Ray Dickaty (ex Spiritualized)

on saxophone......"one of the more

experimental sound clash tracks on the

new album"

also new images are to be found

on the amp art gallery.

November 24th 2003 new audio to download from the new

album in production, go to download

sounds bubble. these two tracks offer

a good insight as to how the album is

going.....'get here' is a studio demo

but we like it enough to let you hear it!

and 'it needs no introduction' was recorded

live in Holland 2003and features

Donald Ross Skinner(Kiosk,Julian Cope) on guitar.

we hoping to get in the studio with him

to record the album version sometime soon.

A great deal has been happening since

our European tour at the beginning of the year.......on our return we found a better

place to live, giving us a better studio plus

a garden for our studio cat Ticky!

Richard jetted off to the States to tour

with Lucas Tizon (film maker) shooting

amazing pictures of the  wild west and

the vast landscape along the long american

roads.....route 66 and all that, it  was  all

for an art movie that Lucas is doing for

a French/German TV station called ARTE.

For  Richard it was a rest and  inspiration

trip, after building the new studio, and

he came back fully wired and ready to start writing and recording the new Amp present he is putting the finishing touches to a solo piano album

that will be released on Ochre Records later this year.

Karine  and Marc have been busy plotting

words and sonic themes........and we all

expect this new album to be the loudest and most kicking amp record to date.......

it is going to be a noisy summer/autumn

in the amp house!

meanwhile check out some USA pictures

that will be appearing in the gallery page,

and we will be making available mp3's

of some of the new album to download...

when we have recorded them!
